History and Achievements
The history of the postal service of Kyrgyzstan dates back to the foundations of the Russian Empire and the USSR. 145 years ago, the first post office was opened in Pishpek, which played a key role in ensuring communication between remote regions and central cities.
Since gaining independence in 1991, Kyrgyzstan’s postal service has undergone significant changes. In 1993, the country became a full member of the Universal Postal Union, which helped establish international postal connections. In 1994, the state department “Kyrgyz Post” was created, marking an important step in the development of an independent postal organization.
Modernization
Since the early 2000s, the country’s postal service has undergone significant modernization, including the introduction of information technologies and logistics optimization. In 2013, “Kyrgyz Post” became part of the Postal Union of the Eurasian Economic Union, opening new horizons for international postal exchanges.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, postal employees continued to perform their duties, delivering pensions and allowances, as well as subscriptions to newspapers and magazines, demonstrating the dedication of postal workers during difficult times.
