The ESSAY CONTEST Started on February 12, 2024! Every year, under the auspices of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), the International Letter Writing Competition is held. In Kyrgyzstan, the essay contest is organized at the national level by OJSC “Kyrgyz Post” with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.

“For 150 years, the UPU has served over eight generations of people worldwide. Since then, the world has changed significantly. ‘Write a letter to future generations about the world you hope they will inherit.'”

Prizes 1st place – Laptop, 2nd place – Tablet, 3rd place – Mobile phone. The prize pool also includes cash prizes: 2000, 1500, and 1000 som.

To participate in the competition, you must:

— Be a child aged 9-15 years, residing in Kyrgyzstan;

— Write and send your essay by April 2, 2024, via the local post office;

— The essay must be handwritten on paper and formatted as follows:

Date of writing in the upper left corner;
Greeting (introduction);
Main body of the text;
Conclusion and signature;
Follow the structure of a letter;
Stay relevant to the assigned topic;
Demonstrate creativity;
Illustrations may be included with the essay;
The essay should not exceed 800 words;
Essays copied from internet resources will not be considered;
When sending your essay, the participant must indicate the following on the ENVELOPE:

Full name;

Home address;

School name and number;

Age (9-15 years);

Phone number (and email address, if available);

Take the essay to the post office and tell the postal employees that the letter is for the epistolary writing competition.

Send the essay as a REGISTERED LETTER.

Why is the competition international?

The epistolary essay competition is held in all countries that are members of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) to celebrate World Post Day. Therefore, each designated postal operator announces the competition and then sends one winning essay from a child to the UPU headquarters in Bern. If the essay wins at the global level, the top three winners receive medals from the UPU, and the winner of the First Prize is awarded a trip to Bern (Switzerland) to receive the prize at the UPU International Bureau.
