1. How to find out your postal code?

You can find your postal code on the website of OJSC “Kyrgyz Post” in the “Postal Codes” section: Indices. Alternatively, you can use this link by entering the street name, then find the corresponding number and house/building to determine your postal code.

2. How to write an address correctly?

The addresses of both the sender and the recipient should be written legibly and completely:

  • Full name (in the format “Surname First Name Patronymic”) or the name of the organization (short or full);
  • Street name, house number, apartment number;
  • Name of the settlement;
  • Name of the district, region, and republic;
  • Name of the country;
  • P.O. box number, if available (in the format “P.O. box 15”);
  • Postal code.

The recipient’s address should be written in the lower right corner of the item. The sender’s address should be in the upper left corner.

For letters sent by demand, indicate the city (region, district, village), postal office index, full name of the recipient, and write “For Demand” on the envelope.

For shipments within the country, both sender and recipient information can be written in either the official or state language.

When sending abroad, the recipient’s details should be written in Latin letters and Arabic numerals. You can write the recipient’s address in the language of the destination country. The name of the destination country should also be written in Russian.

3. How to pack and send a parcel?

The contents of the parcel should not move inside the packaging. To prevent this, fill the empty space with foam crumbs, bubble wrap, sawdust, cotton wool, and other fillers.

Parcels can be packed in boxes or plastic bags of appropriate sizes. There should be no tape or traces of it on cardboard packaging.

Ensure that the packaging is tightly closed and there is no access to the contents.

The packaging should have space for attaching the address label.

You can pack a parcel yourself, especially for larger parcels.

Fragile items should be sent only in rigid packaging.

Liquids and flowing substances should be sent in sealed containers, enclosed in postal packaging marked “Caution” (these parcels are 30% more expensive). Dyes should be sent in sealed metal containers and cannot be sent in plastic or fabric packaging.

Fabric packaging should be made from a single or several homogeneous pieces of light-colored plain fabric sewn with an internal seam. The address should be written, not sewn, on the fabric packaging. Before wrapping the parcel in fabric, protect it from moisture using polyethylene film or another waterproof material.

Seedlings, fresh, and non-perishable vegetables and fruits should be sent in packaging with ventilation holes. When sending vegetables and fruits, the packaging should be marked “Fruits” or “Vegetables”.

Only non-perishable vegetables and fruits can be sent.

Parcels with bees should be packed in a special net.

Items in factory packaging or sturdy non-fragile items without sharp protrusions can be sent without additional packaging.

Choosing Packaging

Paper, printed materials, and small items weighing up to 3 kg can be packed in an envelope, plastic bag, or strong paper, tied or sealed with tape.

Heavy and large items should be sent in a box, bag, or wrapped in dense fabric.

Parcels with an inventory list should not be pre-packed. They must be handed over to a postal employee for content verification with the inventory list before packaging.

The maximum size of a postal box is 42.5 × 26.5 × 38 cm.

4. Tracking Postal Shipments

Check the status of your letter or parcel by tracking the tracking number on the website under “Parcel Tracking” section.

5. What is allowed to be sent in postal shipments?

You can find a list of prohibited items according to the Universal Postal Union and EAEU regulations on the website www.post.kg.

  • Simple and registered letters can contain various written messages, business documents, photographic cards, art postcards, drawings, and other similar paper items that hold no significant value for the sender or recipient;
  • Simple and registered parcels are recommended for sending low-value printed materials (forms, brochures, posters, books, etc.), business papers, manuscripts, photographs, albums, which are not valuable to the sender.
  • Registered parcels can also contain information carriers (discs, flash drives, etc.) and “Talking Books for the Blind”.
  • Valuable letters contain: documents, copies, and valuable papers (diplomas, pension and court documents, government bonds, lottery tickets, and other monetary documents), certificates, photographs, art postcards, printed materials, stamps, and other similar items and documents that are of value to the sender and recipient. Additionally, manuscripts, applications, and complaints can be sent in valuable letters to businesses, organizations, institutions, educational institutions, editorial offices, and publishing houses. Identity documents (passports, birth and marriage certificates, driver’s licenses, etc.) are only allowed to be sent within the Kyrgyz Republic.
  • Valuable parcels contain: cultural and household items, printed materials, fiction, art literature, business papers, medicines, confectionery, and other long-lasting food items, with packaging designed to ensure their preservation.

7. Is it possible to make payments by bank transfer?

Payments are accepted both in cash and by bank transfer using credit cards or via QR code.

8. What types of payments are accepted through the network of post offices and branches?

9. What if my payment didn’t go through?

You can present the receipt to the operator for verification. After checking the payment’s validity, a re-processing of the payment will be conducted through the post offices and branches of OJSC “Kyrgyz Post”.

10. Where can I go in case of an incorrect payment amount?

You should contact the post office where the payment was made on the same day of payment, presenting the original receipt. Then, work will be done to cancel the payment with the incorrect amount, provided it hasn’t been spent or withdrawn. There are exceptions for payments that cannot be canceled.

11. I paid a long time ago, but I lost the receipt. Can I restore it?

A receipt can be restored by contacting the head office with a request to restore the receipt, provided that the payment is confirmed by the post offices and branches.

12. Can I cancel my payment?

A payment can only be canceled within the same day of the payment, except for payments for administrative fines.

13. What should I do in case of loss of postal items and/or missing part of its contents?

In case of loss and/or missing part of the contents, the sender should submit a statement to the postal department where the item was sent, along with a copy of the receipt confirming the shipment. An investigation will be carried out in accordance with the regulations of the Universal Postal Union within the established time limits.

14. Where to look if there is no information about the whereabouts of the postal item and/or it has not been received?

If there is no information about the status of the item, or the status has not been updated for a long time, and your letter or parcel has not been delivered, and the delivery time has expired, you can initiate a search for the item.

To start the search, you need to submit a statement at the OJSC “Kyrgyz Post” office along with a copy of the receipt issued at the time of shipment.

Requests for the search of domestic and international postal items are accepted within 6 months from the date of dispatch.

Requests for the search of international EMS shipments are accepted within 4 months from the date of dispatch in accordance with the EMS Agreement Regulations (Bern, 2017).

The request can be submitted by the recipient, the sender, or an authorized person on behalf of either of them (with a power of attorney).

The results of the search will be communicated by OJSC “Kyrgyz Post” via registered mail to the postal address or by email to the address indicated in the statement.

The deadline for reviewing complaints or claims and providing a written response for domestic items is 14 working days.

The deadline for reviewing claims for international postal items may take from 30 to 90 days in accordance with the Universal Postal Convention (Istanbul, 2016).

15. How much does it cost to send a letter?

The cost of sending a letter depends on its actual weight and the destination country. You can calculate the cost of sending a letter using the “Service Calculator” on the website www.post.kg in the “Postal Services Tariffs” section.

16. Where can I subscribe to newspapers and magazines?

You can subscribe at any post office of OJSC “Kyrgyz Post.”

17. How can I subscribe to newspapers and magazines?

Go to any post office with cash, approach any staff member, and inform them that you wish to subscribe. They will guide you on the available publications for subscription and their prices. Specify which publications you want to subscribe to. You will need to manually fill out a delivery card (form SP-1) where you will indicate the name of the publication, the number of copies, delivery address, client’s name, and the months you want to subscribe for. After payment, you will be issued a receipt and the top part of the SP-1 form with the receipt number and a calendar stamp (keep them). You can only subscribe for the upcoming month by the 20th. If it is already the 21st or the month has started, you can only subscribe for the next month. For Russian publications, there is an additional one-month delay. For example: if it’s before June 20th, you can subscribe for July, but after June 21st, you can only subscribe for August, and so on. For Russian magazines, if it’s before June 20th, you can subscribe for August, but after June 21st, you can only subscribe for September, and so on.

18. Can I subscribe to publications via bank transfer?

Subscription via bank transfer is only available for legal entities, provided that a request from the organization with the signature and seal of the director is submitted.

19. Can I subscribe for a year?

No, subscriptions are only available for 6 months. From January to June for the first half of the year, and from July to December for the second half. For example, it is not possible to subscribe for April, May, June, and July as they belong to different halves of the year.

20. What is the advantage of subscribing to newspapers compared to buying them individually?

When subscribing, the publications will be delivered to your specified address, which is included in the subscription price. Additionally, the retail prices of newspapers may increase over the course of six months, while subscription prices remain fixed. Some newspapers and magazines are only available by subscription and are not sold individually in stores.

21. Is it possible to subscribe to newspapers not for yourself, but for relatives in another city?

Yes, you can subscribe to a newspaper in someone else’s name within the territory of Kyrgyzstan, provided you provide the exact details: surname, address, region, city, street, and house number. For example: Aksy district, Kerben city, Umetalieva street, 2, to the name of Sydykov.

22. What should I do if the publications are not delivered?

Contact the post office that services your address or the subscription department. Show them the receipt for the paid publication and the upper part of the СП-1 form. Based on the information in these documents, they will check the reasons why your publications are not being delivered. For example, publications are not delivered to individual floors, and if there is no mailbox, it can cause delivery issues. You can also request “to be picked up at the post office” and collect the publications from a convenient post office yourself.

23. I moved to a new address, what should I do with the delivery of publications?

Contact the post office that services your previous address and inform them about the move. Provide your new address so they can transfer your subscriptions to the new address. This process may take a few days.

24. Can I subscribe only for specific months?

Yes, you can subscribe for any months, but only within one semester. For example, January, April, June.

25. Can my grandson receive my pension?

No, your grandson cannot receive your pension. A power of attorney must be issued for this purpose.

26. Will the pension be delivered to my home?

Yes, the pension is delivered to your home according to the payment schedule.

27. Can pensioners receive their pension at a different post office?

No, they cannot. Pensions can only be received at the place of residence. To change the location for receiving the pension, you need to contact the Social Fund.

28. How can a blind pensioner receive their pension?

They can receive it through a power of attorney or in the presence of a witness.
